UK visitor visa is most sought after for Indians

Large number of Visitor Visaswas issued by the UK to the individuals with nationalities from the non-European Economic Area (EEA) during the financial year that ended on 30th June this year.  Most of the visitors were from India.

 UK Visitor Visas

As many as 26.3 Lakh Visaswere granted by the UKduring this period, and out of which around 20.38 lakh or almost 77% were granted to visitors only.  The average number of UK visitor visas has witnessed an increase of 8% when compared to previous year that ended on 30th June 2016.  Out of 20.38 lakh visitor visas that were issued Indian citizens were allotted 20% of those visas. Other Asian countries were allotted around 26% of visas. The primary categories of UK visa include visitor, Study Abroadand Work.
As per Home Office Department of the UK, around 4.14 citizens from India got visitor visas, which is an increase of around 10% from the previous year.

UK Student Visa

Apart from the UK visitor visa, the most popular visa that is issued to non EEA citizens includes UK Study Visa. During the end of this year June 2017, around 2.13 lakh student visas were granted with an increase of 4% when compared to the previous year.
UK visas that were issued to the three biggest non EEA student populations have also seen increase in visa issuance too. Students from India were granted around 11,700 visas with an increase of almost 10% compared to last year. Students from the US were granted around 14,400 visas.
The EEA has brought together the EU nations and some other countries like Liechtenstein, Iceland, Switzerland and Norway into a solitary market permitting for free movement of public.
The figures on visas from the Home Office of the UK include only non EEA nations. Though an official statement explains that few non EEA nations like the US does not usually need a visa to visit the UK.  Thus, the number of visitor visas issued is much less than the total number of people who has arrived.
While Brexit might modify the scenario, the total numbers of visas that are granted to foreign skilled workers remain constant during this year till the end of June when compared to the previous year figures.

 UK Work Visas

The previous trend has been continuing as most of the Indian citizens has accounted for almost 58% of total number of skilled visas that are issued. As many as 53, 366 Skilled Worker Visaswere issued to Indian citizens.  The citizens from the US constitutes the next biggest group after the Indians with around 9,144 Tier 2 visas were issued to them which constitutes around 10% of the total from this work visa category.
Last year, Indian citizens has got as many as 53,548 Tier 2 visas that makes 57% of entire visas in this category, whereas around 10,019 visas were issued to US citizens, around 11% of these visas.
UK work visas from entire categories that include Tier 1, youth mobility and temporary ones has witnessed slight decline when compared to last year. The Brexit effect has shown few signs with EU citizens migrating out of the UK.
According to an Immigration Expert, Indian workers go for skilled category. It would be too early to get into an assumption of what would be the impact of Brexit on these workers.
