Applicants can now Apply Online for Canada Immigration

Applying a Canada PR for Immigration via paper and finding it strenuous? Do not hasten! Canada Immigration Department has come up with a Permanent Residence Portal online to apply.

From September 2022, Online applications for certain permanent immigration programs using the Permanent Residence Portal have been made available. Each program has changed to online applications on a different date.

For certain people, applying online might not be possible and require accommodations, including for a disability. They can ask for the application via paper format. Continue to read to know more in detail:

Who Can Apply Online for Canada Permanent Residence Immigration (Canada PR) Programs:

·         Agri-food pilot

·         If adopting a child through the immigration process

·         Quebec entrepreneurs and investors

·         Quebec-selected skilled workers

·         Self-employed people

·         If sponsoring a spouse, partner, dependent child

·         If sponsoring a parent or grandparent

·         If Temporary resident permit holder, then, apply for Canada permanent residence

·         Login to the Permanent Residence portal account to apply.

There is a certain eligibility criterion to migrate to Canada for Quebec-Skilled workers and the Federal skilled worker program. This category of people must meet up with all the necessary requirements to migrate.

Other Applications:

·   Apply online or on paper for a few Canada permanent residence (Canada PR) immigration programs:

·         Protected persons and convention refugees in Canada can apply for this.

·         For Immigration, sign in or create a Permanent residence portal account.

The application process to Canada Immigration involves:

1)      Determining the immigration program

2)      Securing all the documents required

3)      Giving Biometrics

4)      Filling out the forms

5)      Submitting the application 

1)  Filling out Forms:

Below application forms are available Digitally and must fill-in (for yourself, and any family members 18 or older)

·         (IMM 0008) is the Generic Application Form for Canada

·         (IMM 5669) for the Schedule A - Background/Declaration

·         (IMM 5406) for the Additional Family Information

PDF Forms Requiring Signatures:

Fill in the PDF forms below according to the instruction guide for the Canada immigration program that is applied for.

Specifications for Photo:

·         One photo for each person on the application.

·         Follow the instructions provided in the online application. Scan the photo and upload both sides.

For Family Sponsorship Applications Only:

·         The sponsor must download and complete the below application forms:

·         Sign along with the principal applicant digitally.

·         [IMM 1344] is the Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement, and Undertaking.

·         [IMM 5532] form is regarding the Relationship Information and Sponsorship Evaluation.

All other PDF Forms:

All the family members immigrating to Canada with the sponsor must fill out the remaining PDF forms, according to the instruction guide.

Download, complete, and upload all the remaining forms needed for the application.

Immigration Representatives:

An immigration representative is a consultant or lawyer who can give advice and help with the application form for a fee. But a representative cannot

·         Open a portal account on behalf of the immigrant

·         Electronically sign the application on behalf of the immigrant

·         Signing in to the portal using an immigrant username and password

A representative can fill out forms and communicate with the immigration department on behalf of the immigrant through their own account.

They can also help in preparing the documents that are to be uploaded

They can answer questions about the forms.

After reading the declaration at the end of the form, the immigrant must be the one to type their name. This is the legal requirement for the application to be considered "signed," according to Canada's immigration law.

Electronically Sign the Application

Type the full name exactly as shown on the passport to electronically sign the application.

Signing the Application

Only the principal applicant must sign after uploading the forms for overall consent and declaration to complete the online application.
