What is Tie-Breaking Rule for Canada Express Entry?

Have you come across the Tie-Break rule for Canada Express Entry candidates? No? Here is everything you need to know about Canada’s Tie-Breaking rule.

Do you know about Canada Express Entry Tie – breaking Rule – Global Tree

What Is Tie-breaking Rule?

The Tie-Breaking rule means an express entry draw by the IRCC to facilitate the candidates with invitations to apply, who are in the express entry pool for a long time. Mostly the tie-breaking rule is for the candidates who got the same CRS score.

How Tie-breaking rule works?

The tie-breaking rule is applied quite often for the Canada PR process to select the candidates in the express entry pool. A deadline date will be given, based on which the candidates were shortlisted. That means the applicants who Create Express Entry Profile and submitted before the given deadline will get the invitations. Along with that, a threshold CRS score will be declared by IRCC.

Recently, on June 25th, the Canada Express Entry draw 2020 was issued with 3,508 invitations to apply for permanent residence for the candidates with CRS scores of at least 431. In that draw, the tie-breaking rule was used. This means that candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profile before April 3rd, with a CRS score of 431, were sent an ITA for Canada PR. The date and time declared for that draw was April 3, 2020; 12:56:32 UTC.

Why Canada uses the Tie-Breaking rule for Express entry draw?

Canada often issues invitations for permanent residence using the Tie-Breaking rule. Mostly, it is used to filter out the candidates with the same CRS scores, as it is quite helpful for the IRCC to invite skilled immigrants to Canada as its permanent residents.

As there is still a chance to Improve the CRS score with simple tips even after submitting the profile, if candidates opt for it there will be many chances to get the profiles picked.

Key points:

  • Tie-Breaking during the express entry draw prioritizes the candidates who are in for a longer time.
  • Even the applicant made changes to the profile, the initial profile submission itself was considered during the draw.
  • If the applicant cancels the application and re-apply after the specific date, the profile will not be considered.
  • If the CRS score of a candidate is not up to mark initially, but if made some changes before the deadline and the score reached the target, the invitation will be sent.
  • This is a kind of first-in-first-out policy draw.
