Changes to Australia Immigration Policy For 2019

Changes Expected For Immigration to Australia

 1. Parents and grandparents may get a special visa
The Aussie government is planning to start a new visa program for parents and grandparents of persons who are permanent residents and citizens of Australia. These individuals will be able to sponsor their parents to stay with them for an extended period from 3 to 5 years. At the start of the program the government plans to place a cap of 15,000 visas for the category. On another positive note, the visas can be renewed on expiry up to a maximum period of 10 years

2. Graduate students will be required to show more funds
From 2019 international students who intend to study in Australia will be required to show an increased amount for proof of funds, more precisely, the students will need to show that they have AUD 20,290 at their disposal if they plan to STUDY IN AUSTRALIA. In case the students intends to bring a spouse, she will have to show an additional 7100 AUD and 3040 AUD if accompanied by a dependent child

3. Immigrants sponsored by employers will need to match ATO tax records
Immigrants who are sponsored by employers will be under the radar of the ATO, as the Department of Home Affairs and the ATO will match tax records in order to ensure that employer-sponsored immigrants are paid what they are due. The Department of Home Affairs will be taking transgressions very seriously and will crack down on those companies which pay migrant workers below the minimum wage. The department intends to partner with the ATO to get tax file numbers and match current tax records as per nominated salary

4. Entrepreneurs planning to launch a business will get a special visa program
South Australia is planning to launch a new program in 2019 for entrepreneurs who are planning to start a new business in the region and are open to immigrating to Australia. The visa process is expected to be more streamlined and easier than existing visas in the business category.  The visa applicant will need to score an average band of 5 or more on the IELTS to demonstrate her ability to communicate in the English language and will need to showcase an original and viable idea for starting a business in Australia.
