Tips to Work While You Study in UK

1. You cannot freelance or be self employed
One important caveat when you look for a job as a student in the United Kingdom is that you cannot work as a self-employed person or freelance. You should take care of this point and not sign any contract with a company that asks you to work as a freelancer. When you look for a job, make sure that you do not accept any job that asks you to be self-employed.
2. Get a right to work check list
Ask your course officer to provide a right to work check list, if you are planning to work at seasonal jobs during course holidays or vacations. In these periods you are allowed to work for more than 20 hours per week. A right to work checklist can keep you informed about the officially acceptable vacation work time for your university.
3. Be Aware of your rights
You have the right as a student to work for not more than 20 hours, when your class is in session. You should beware your employer making you work for more than this period as it may create problems for your visa.
4. Do not lose patience
For many students, the search for the job does not take fruit immediately. In this case its important, to maintain your confidence and patience. You should not feel disheartened, otherwise it may even affect your studies. It is important to keep your studies as your first priority.
