The United Kingdom has been a
popular destination for students from all over the world for the past few
decades. However, with the increasing interest in location such as France,
Italy, Singapore and New Zealand, the number of international students who plan
to STUDY IN UK
is slowly dwindling. To cap this, a number of leading universities in the
United Kingdom are struggling with a serious cash flow problem on account of
the Brexit, which is expected to come into effect from March 2019. On account
of this more and more universities are changing their strategies to include
more international students in their admissions plans and turn to students from
countries like India and China, who pay higher fees than the local in resident
students. Many education experts believe that Indian students would be the
frontrunners of this influx of foreign students, with some even predicting that
their numbers could surpass those of British students in the foreseeable
future.
According to Anton Moscatelli,
the vice-chancellor of Glasgow University, top universities in the United
Kingdom would probably recruit a far larger number of overseas
students to study in UK in order to
meet with funding problems. The Brexit deal would cut off the educational ties
between Britain and the rest of Europe and would face an immediate shortfall of
more than 1 billion GBP leaders say it would be "catastrophic", with
the UK cut out of 1.3 billion pounds of EU research funding and a collapse in
EU student numbers.
Additionally, an imminent educational
review by the government of the United Kingdom is expected to recommend that
undergraduate tuition fees be lowered from their existing rates to GBP
annually. This measure is expected to improve the admissions from overseas
students by at least fifty percent. Universities in UK are making a concerted
effort to boost their overseas student strength. Exter university for example, is
already in the race and is seeking to boost overseas student numbers by up to
seven per cent according to its vice-chancellor, Steve Smith, who stated that
universities in UK barely made ends meet when they relied only UK residential
students. Almost all colleges in UK are seeking international students who
aspire to study in UK.
In another measure, that is
likely to have a positive impact on the flow of international students to the UK,
the government is expected to change visa rules to make it easier for
international students to stay and work in UK after graduation. For more
